I move from New York to charlotte for over 11yrs now and finally I found a Jamaican restaurant have food is amazing. True hidden gem in charlotte
It is very sad am only getting to know about this Jamaican restaurant now after living here for many years. Definitely the best Jamaican food in Charlotte and I’ve tried them all. Don’t be deceived by looks of restaurant, this chef threw down. Not many places sell escovitch fish so am glad to find one that not only sells it but does it well. Perfect spice level and fish well fried. Not oily. Also had oxtail, plate goes for about $32 very flavorful was worth the wait considering when we got there it was still cooking. Enjoyed my meal and will be back! People go check this place out for yourself there’s a reason it’s got a 4.5 rating on google
Drove all the way from the airport to try this food based on the reviews. It says they are open on Monday from 11-8. I got there at 6:30 and they were closed.
The absolute best Caribbean food Ive had in Charlotte, and I've lived here for 8 years. The owner is such an amazing chef, the flavors are incredible, it's so rich and flavorful, and it's always such a treat to eat here. My favorite dish is the whole snapper with spicy gravy, or the coconut curry salmon. Absolute fire, no notes, one of my fav restaurants in the city.
This is truly the most authentic Jamaican food I’ve had in Charlotte. I ordered snapper, and while the wait was about 20-25, it was worth it. I prefer my food made to order, and seeing them chop the onions, tomato, thyme and peppers fresh was amazing. It’s not real if you don’t catch yourself before you bite the all spice!! Rice was good and the couple running the establishment were very friendly. Will definitely be back.
My husband (Jonas) and I (Kimberly) visited this place for the first time this past Saturday. We absolutely loved this black owned family establishments. However, this place topped the cake for us, great customer service, friendly atmosphere, clean and super delicious food. Get there early because their food sale out fast because it’s organic, authentic and original flavors. We will be back and recommend this location to everyone. Caribbean cuisines at its finest!!!
I recently traveled back to my hometown and had the pleasure of dining at K & J's Kitchen, a local Jamaican restaurant that served some of the most authentic and delicious Jamaican cuisine I have ever tasted. I ordered the oxtails with rice, beans, and cabbage, and I must say that the dish was cooked to perfection. The owners of the restaurant are clearly passionate about their food and take great care in using only the freshest ingredients, which they prepare right before your eyes. The portions were colossal, and I definitely had enough for leftovers the next day. One thing to note is that the restaurant is small and there is no seating in the waiting area, so it's best to call ahead so your food is ready to take out when you arrive. However, despite the limited space, the restaurant had warm and friendly vibes, which made for a delightful experience. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Jamaican cuisine. The oxtails were absolutely delicious, and I could tell that the owners put a lot of love and care into preparing their food.
